| Mar 21, 2020 | motor vehicle accidents

If you have are ever involved in a car accident, you are not alone. Each Georgia resident will statistically experience a car accident at least once every ten years. That is more than 1,700 drivers involved in accidents every day.

Unfortunately, some of those accidents will turn out to be fatal. Such is the case for five Georgia residents recently involved in a deadly collision.

Five people killed during a crash with a bus

According to AJC.com, the driver of a Nissan Sentra crossed the center lane into oncoming traffic, causing the collision. The report states that the driver lost control of the car and ran into an oncoming bus. Five of the seven passengers in the Nissan died, which the other two sustained critical injuries.

The captain of the Atlanta Police Department called the accident the worst he has seen during his 25 years on the force. The driver of the bus sustained injuries and went to the hospital. There were only two passengers on the bus at the time of the accident, but neither of them reported injuries.

Accidents can have catastrophic results

For people who have sustained injuries as the result of a negligent driver or car manufacturer, they may be able to receive compensation. For people who have family members that have perished as the result of negligence, they may also file a claim. Compensation can include damages for lost wages, medical expenses, pain and suffering. While no amount of money can bring loved ones back, it may help to ease the financial burden associated with medical or funeral costs.
