Local stretch of interstate prone to motor vehicle accidents

While car accidents can happen anywhere in Marietta and throughout Georgia, there are certain areas where, statistically, there is a greater chance of being involved in one. For people who have been in a crash in one of these areas, the same factors apply regarding what they need to do after the crash. Injuries, medical costs, lost income and fatalities can have a dramatic impact on many lives. A legal filing is one of the main strategies to recover compensation.

An investigation found that a stretch on the interstate has had a substantial rise in motor vehicle accidents. The area extends for 13 miles and, according to the Department of Transportation, the increase is because there has been more traffic on the roadway. A local news crew did its own research in the area and spoke to people who are frequent users of that road.

The Georgia State Patrol and the DOT records show that, since construction started on the road in 2016, there have been more than 1,000 accidents, injuring 240 people and killing 13. Tractor trailers were involved in 224 of the accidents. Because the project is to resurface the road, it has created a split that can confuse drivers. Other concerns include distracted driving and speeding through construction zones.

All Georgia drivers must be vigilant, no matter where they are driving. The dangers on the road are inherent and, in many cases, getting worse. Since there can be long-term problems personally, physically, emotionally and financially after motor vehicle accidents, having legal advice is imperative.
